It isn’t actually all that hard to lose weight. All you need to do is to create a calorie deficit. You can do that pretty darn easily just by switching to a mostly plant-based diet. Here’s how it works. Most of our food is super calorie dense these days. Everything is stupid dense.
The human body isn’t designed to eat the kind of food that is plentiful and available in our country. If you swap out for salads, you will find that there is a ton of food that you can eat. Your stomach gets filled, you stop eating and you have done very little in the way of making much of a dent into your daily calorie load. It seems pretty simple and straightforward to just say, eat your veggies.
It really can be that simple. Veggies are less calorically dense than other foods out there, and if you simply switch to that kind of a diet, the pounds should start to come off. You do need to be pretty disciplined. It is kind of hard to munch down on a carrot when everyone around you is eating a pizza. That being said, you can get down a couple of waist sizes just by eating salads.
My other tip is to weigh in often. Daily weigh ins work best. Think about this in terms of a KPI. The more you measure it, the better a sense of how you are doing you will have. You need to weigh in more often than weekly or monthly.
Here’s the thing. What you measure you control, what you don’t measure you accept. It is as simple as that. If you are measuring your progress, you will naturally tweak things. If you are losing weight too quickly you can ease up. If you aren’t going fast enough you can tighten things up. The important thing is that you must be in control.
